A New Journey: Going Back to Film

 

Like most 20-something photographers, I’m a child of the digital age.  My first camera, although 35mm film, wasn’t the camera that brought me to photography as an art.  That “art” hit a stalemate about a year ago and I had to begin rethinking what I wanted from my photography.  The problem wasn’t lack of technical skill, but rather a complete lack of patience.  My 1D Mark II’s frame rate sat at 8.5 FPS and never left “machine gun” mode.  What I needed was to slow down, way down.  I kept missing shots not because I didn’t see, but that I was being really lazy and letting the camera do too much thinking for me. Headshots for Sara

It’s been a rough few months for me.  Life has taken some tragic and stressful turns, and as a result, my photography has suffered.  So, when Sara contacted me a couple of weeks ago to get some headshots done for her budding Model Mayhem portfolio, I thought it would be a darn good chance to get out my photographic funk and get back on the bandwagon.  The shoot would be done for trade (TFP for you MM’ers out there), so I wanted to be sure I kept with my style of imaging as well as contributing something new to my portfolio whist simultaneously providing Sara with something cool to show off in hers.  (more…)

Greetings and welcome to my blog and image gallery.  Here you will find an assortment of posts, hopefully entertaining, related to photography, photographic equipment, and artistic meanderings.  Comments, thoughts and discussion always welcome as long as conducted in a respectful manner (no ad hominim arguments please!).
